We found this Redcheek variation of  the Jordan's Salamander (Plethodon jordani) under a rock in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It only exists in the Smokies and Nantahala Mountains. A rare find indeed!
This Yonahlossee Salamander (Plethodon yonahlossee) was found near Shady Valley, TN on Holston Mountain. Note the broad chestnut stripe down the back. What a handsome guy he is indeed! Named for Yonahlossee Road at the foot of Grandfather Mountain, NC.
Mountain Dusky Salamander, Northern type (Desmognathus fuscus ochrophaeus) found on Holston Mountain near Shady Valley, TN.
Mountain Dusky Salamander, Southern type (Desmognathus fuscus ochrophaeus). Notice the different color pattern compared to Northern Type. Notice the rebel flag biker wallet and the chewing tobacco in his mouth.
