Adventure Damascus Tours will
be continuing with several tours for 2004
as well as adding some new tours. Building on our success
from the last 4 years with the Clinch Valley Eco-Tour (which
is still our "signature" tour), and based on customer
feedback from past seasons with our day tours, we have
expanded our Eco-tour offerings to include the Mount Rogers
National Recreation Area and Mountain Highlands Tour for
2004. This tour is anticipated to rival in popularity the
Clinch Valley Eco-Tour and will appeal to those wanting to
see and learn about the highlands eco-systems. A continued area of focus will
be on Birding Trips for 2004. The
Blue Ridge Mountains and Clinch Valley region of Virginia
have so many diverse bird habitats that it's just a natural
place to come and look for rare species, unusually occurring
species and a huge volume of bird species. For example, take
the Virginia Creeper Trail. Starting at and elevation of appx. 3500 feet and descending to appx 1900 feet in Damascus
over 17 miles, the trail encompasses several different
eco-zones that attract a variety of different bird species
depending on the elevation. The trail is accessible and easy
to walk (or bike), the surroundings are beautiful and the
birdlife is plentiful. Depending on which season you choose
to bird, you can always find birds that will be of interest.
Day tours that will include
canoeing on the Clinch River, hiking some of the most scenic
trails around and biking to various destinations in the
region will be scheduled too. Most of our day-trips are
scheduled on Saturday, making it convenient for all
participants.
We'll provide
knowledgeable interpreters, modern equipment and an
itinerary that will satisfy everybody's agenda weather
it be learning about the environment, taking part in a "soft
adventure" or just plain relaxing outdoors with a group
of fun people who share a common interest. Check our
tour calendar to get more details and to choose a trip, then e-mail us or give us a call to
